“You can’t say we didn’t try…” is a phrase we often say to make ourselves feel better recently. In my pre-Sadie life it was a rare thing for me to turn around and go back down a trail before reaching the top of the mountain or marker for the end of the trail. I can remember being on several miserable, wet, and sometimes dangerous trails all for the sake of finishing the route. Things are so much different now that I have a tiny little person with me. I really want for Sadie to respect, feel comfortable in, and enjoy the outdoors so we try to get out as often as possible but I don’t think we have completed a trail yet. The most recent attempt was last Thursday – Chad took a much needed day off and it was a beautiful, sunny Colorado day. We went to St Mary’s Glacier with our gators and polls and left the snowshoes at home because it was so nice and we have not had much snow. We bundled Sadie in several layers of clothing until she wasn’t really able to move and I was sure she would be fine. We started out on the trail…it started snowing, the wind was blowing, the snow was so packed it was slick, and poor Sadie looked miserable. About 10 or 15 minutes up the trail we turned back uttering the phrase, at least you can’t say we didn’t try.
We have recently discovered Sadie’s ticklish spots.
