Trails & Giggles

“You can’t say we didn’t try…” is a phrase we often say to make ourselves feel better recently. In my pre-Sadie life it was a rare thing for me to turn around and go back down a trail before reaching the top of the mountain or marker for the end of the trail. I can remember being on several miserable, wet, and sometimes dangerous trails all for the sake of finishing the route. Things are so much different now that I have a tiny little person with me. I really want for Sadie to respect, feel comfortable in, and enjoy the outdoors so we try to get out as often as possible but I don’t think we have completed a trail yet. The most recent attempt was last Thursday – Chad took a much needed day off and it was a beautiful, sunny Colorado day. We went to St Mary’s Glacier with our gators and polls and left the snowshoes at home because it was so nice and we have not had much snow. We bundled Sadie in several layers of clothing until she wasn’t really able to move and I was sure she would be fine. We started out on the trail…it started snowing, the wind was blowing, the snow was so packed it was slick, and poor Sadie looked miserable. About 10 or 15 minutes up the trail we turned back uttering the phrase, at least you can’t say we didn’t try. We have recently discovered Sadie’s ticklish spots.

Valentine's Weekend

Fleece and rice bags were the mantra of this past weekend. We watched a few movies and I attempted to knit, which often looks more like piles of knotted yarn on the floor. I don’t like to be outside with the baby too much when it’s so stinkin cold. I’m not complaining though because spring will come soon enough and we’ll be spending all our time working in the yard and I will be wishing I was cozy inside with my sweater and rice bag and not much to do.

Chad got me some flowers for Valentine’s Day and the lily is so amazing I can smell it all over the house.
We went on a date Sunday night and ate at Bubba Gump’s downtown. There is actually something on the menu called “Bucket of Boat Trash”. Who would order that you may be thinking to yourself… We walked around downtown for a while and got some coffee. It’s funny, I still look at the homeless people kind of expecting to see someone I knew from Fat Boys and I feel a little guilty that is no longer something I think about very much.

Blogging...

In an attempt to not fill up everyones inbox with Sadie pictures and videos I am going to try my hand at blogging. Sadie is also taking longer naps and I have not yet found a job so I have a little time on my hands. So without further ado, Sadie Tales...

Sadie has discovered that Daddy is a big jungle gym so Chad is getting a work out these days.
